Sony are still relatively new in the world of DSLR produce. Much of its production goes back to its heritage, the Konica Minolta product line. Produce sound, but maybe all the designs left Sony box below. Here is the new A33, a bold new concept that could only put Sony on the way, the hard breakthrough in market share. We’ll see if it lives to expectations or if it still have some way to achieve a style and concept of your own. If this is the way of the future?
Features
We have a DSLR camera with interchangeable lenses and an electronic viewfinder, or maybe a bridge camera with interchangeable lenses. This is something new, with Single Lens Translucent technology (SLT), or, in other words, a solid semi-transparent mirror that is not moving. 70% of the light is transmitted to the 14.6MP CMOS sensor and reflected 30% in the viewfinder. This makes the EVF important as it would be very boring without an optical viewfinder. This proved to be the main problem when their Canon SLR Pellix introduced in the 1960s.
was the EVF makes viewing easy, but have problems such as poor frame rate and resolution achieved with the 1.44 million dot EVF screen? No moving mirror means both live view and 1080i HD movie recording is possible and it is absolutely viable use to the main screen for composition, as we did with a compact camera. AF is available in these modes is the provision of which will be the cause of Sony in the field are modified with a movie mode.
The specification is articulated with in-camera SteadyShot shake reduction, a broad range of ISO 100 to 12.800, a 3-inch screen, 15 point AF and a full range of the usual scene modes and styles rounded. The camera was supplied with Thailand produced 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 kit lens and it is a comprehensive range of high-quality lenses A are available, both from Sony itself and the independent producers. No lens hood is supplied but a bayonet fit hood is available as an optional accessory.

Memory Stick Pro Duo, SD, SDHC and SDXC cards are all used to capture images. There is no measuring cell, the 1200 points will by the sensor itself provided. The battery is a modest 1080 mAh Li-Ion pack.
Handling
First impression is very plastic construction, especially in the case of the lens. The camera is not smaller than any small DSLR with conventional mirror system so that the SLT-technology seems not to significantly reduce the bulk. In any case, the lenses will fit standard A and thus used the same dimensions as those on the standard-range DSLR. But how familiar are improved considerably, that, plastic or not, the A33 is well made, sturdy enough for all but the most stringent professional applications and is working smoothly and reliably.
The SLT system is a little strange at first as the shutter without any vibration and without the usual clunk of the mirror reflection. This is clearly an advantage if the mirror must always be completely free from dust and dirt as this will affect the image itself. A mirror must not be affected, it means using a soft brush to remove dust. There is a potential drawback here as any accidental damage to the mirror will affect the image and the mirror is susceptible to change during lens.
The articulated screen will be welcomed by many. It should be treated with caution as it looks also prone to damage. taken a strange anachronism, Konica Minolta, the non-standard flash shoe. It is available, an adapter, but I would a standard shoe-mounted from the start have preferred.

Performance
Critical to the viability of the A33 is of course the new EVF. This is without doubt the best I today and the first time I felt that it was available have seen in all circumstances. It is relaxing to the eye, good and detailed is the refresh rate is good enough to possible action photography. It is also clearly visible in bright light. Yes, it might be to react more quickly, and it shimmers and shakes when panned overly fast, but it is not a problem and I was happy to work with him. Future models will undoubtedly improve it, but it is not necessary for the development as the screen waiting for quite viable.
A beautiful combination is the electronic level indicator in the viewfinder. This is a wonderful help for curing tilting of images and the display is clear and precise. I thought succession of technical and architectural issues very, very simple. I will note which way I tend to tip for future reference.
On a tripod, with live view screen on the back of the most efficient way seems to work. In the brightest outdoor situations the screen with his hand shielding needs to be clearly seen. There is no such problem with the recessed well EVF viewfinder. Having said that, the EVF does not improve, however, the compactness of the camera as it extends back a good 9mm back with pride on the back of the screen. The advantage might be that it keeps the face off the screen and therefore reduces the tendency to mark the surface.
steady shot seems to be effective for at least 2-3 stops advantage, but the display could be improved. A flashing icon that could stabilize a better option than a series of bars will be reduced steadily moved up again, so again … it seems a little slow to lock. When using a tripod, as usual, the SteadyShot function should be switched off to avoid shake inducing.

AF function is very good – the camera focused where needed, virtually any time and with real speed, regardless of the minimum focusing distance and independent of the selected driving mode. My preference is still focused mid-point and the locks immediately at any time. Despite great efforts to deceive the system I could not induce hunting by pointing to completely empty topics. In the case of the 2 second self-timer, it would be useful to have a countdown on the rear window or have a confirmation – when the shutter button is pressed nothing seems to happen, but the shutter release function in the given time. We lack the aural evidence that conventional mirrors provide.
The exposure was probably slightly on the light side for my taste and I use routinely-0.3EV compensation. This applies equally well for all the dosing patterns that provide sound the same results. I to center-weighted generally satisfied and the camera was no exception. I like to know what measure my cameras. Backlight is the fact that there appears to need the intervention of the photographer because the camera does have a slight tendency to expose everything.
Unusually bright or dark subjects, the use of exposure compensation and that is easily accessed by pressing the corresponding button and rotate the front dial. Some users do like two dials, but this increases the cost and I think that you like it here too much of an inconvenience. The display clearly shows that the compensation was sought, there is little danger of it a false value on the left unintentionally.
Resolution of 14.6 (14.2 effective) MP sensor is also up to standard and are fully detailed images that will stand up and to start printing at larger sizes. A3 prints for competitions and exhibitions, or for the wall will not be a problem.

Lens Performance
First, there is no lens hood is provided, and I think it should be. can reduce even with multiple optical trapping of a hood, increase saturation, and even help to protect the lens from damage. As it happens, the zoom lens is commendably against flare, but I would still recommend buying a hood. In the most extreme case, are induced flare, but that applies to most modern lenses.
Chromatic distortion is well controlled and are not visible in most situations. In extreme cases it can be some color fringing around leaves and branches, but nothing of significance. In terms of distortion, shows the lens, where compromises have been made. At 18mm, there are strong barrel distortion. This largely adopted by 35mm and is overtaken by slight pincushion at 55mm. Architects can be a problem, but for general use this is very acceptable.
The field is consistently good and is almost sure to impress. We can expect pleasing, saturated images with a satisfying crispness. Middle openings are covered best as usual, but in any open or small openings exaggerated. Totally enclosed for maximum depth of the lens is still working well. Larger open the camera shows a certain “plasticity” or smoothness, which can be very effective for portraits. It is worthwhile that no lens is perfect, but its balance of properties gives it a unique character. This can be used to his advantage in the real world photography, but rarely seen in laboratory experiments.
Kit lenses can have a bad name in some cases and this can be very unfair. This example is quite commendable and has a very impressive performance. I would love to use it for a decisive use.

Verdict
For users of bridge cameras Sony Alpha A33 Digital SLT is a definite step up the opening of the world of interchangeable lenses, including the great Carl Zeiss optics. The full APS-C sensor, it brings in a class in addition to conventional SLR cameras and the big decision will depend on whether the buyer accepted the EVF rather than a standard optical viewfinder. This movement of bridge cameras have no problem and are impressed that may be difficult to convince with digital SLR cameras also. I doubt my own easily enough with some very enjoyable hours spent with their elimination.
Direct competition comes from Samsung and Panasonic, and scores, perhaps to a lesser extent Olympus, but the Sony by using the A-series lenses. This area is well established, will cover most eventualities and is of the highest quality. The Carl Zeiss lenses are very tempting. With SLT, we have something new and different and I can see its possibilities. It is worth serious consideration of the entry level DSLRs. It provides access to an exciting range of lenses as well, which could clinch the deal for many.
